M&M Popcorn Treat

I try to get our three-year-old, Deacon, cooking in the kitchen with me as often as I can. I try to give him simple tasks such as stirring and pouring, but sometimes something as difficult as breaking an egg. However hard his task is, it’s so exciting to see his pride in helping with whatever it is we are cooking.

When I decided to make a popcorn treat, I knew this was something that he would enjoy helping me with. It consists of few ingredients, watching popcorn pop, melting butter and marshmallows, and of course M&M’s. You can never go wrong with M&M’s. Especially peanut butter ones. Enough said. But you can choose whatever kind of M&M’s you want.

Simply get your popcorn popping. After the kernels have finished popping, be sure to pick out any unpopped kernels that still may remain.

Next up, melt the butter and marshmallows together until smooth.

Once combined, pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and stir until combined. I like to pour half of the mixture and stir. After that is pretty incorporated, add the rest and stir to fully coat.

Gently stir in the M&M’s until combined. Spread onto wax paper to cool.

This really is a simple and delicious recipe. His hard work was definitely worth it!
